Tonight I saw Asking Alexandria play in London for the 5th time! I’m quiet a big fan of the band and have followed them since 2009 so seeing them tonight was a HUGE buzz.
Sadly due to my poor time keeping I missed opening band Secrets but heard nothing but good things from my friends. The show started for me with Crown the Empire taking to the stage the lights dim low and there theatric performance started laying waste to a lively crowd with songs off both there albums.
I was kind of expecting CTE to falter live as they sound quiet over produced on CD yet the balance of Andy Leos melodic singing and the brutal screams of fellow front man David Escamilla left me very impressed with there set. They had the whole crowd singing along to closing song ‘The Fallout‘ .
Next up was a band I was very much looking forward to seeing – The Ghost Inside! The LA metalcore act took to the stage and instantly opened the crowd up! They were smashing through anthems ranging from classic hardcore slammers to the more modern melodic hardcore anthems. The band are really showing the maturity of there new album and sounded spot on tight with no slip ups.
After much waiting Asking Alexandria burst onto the stage in a rain of fire…literately! Blasting out Rock and Roll sing alongs and classic metalcore slammers. Vocalist Danny Worsnop’s style has changed so much that most of the old songs now are sung more than screamed, however this actually makes the older songs sound more mature and shows a band that is standing strong in the lime light of being a commercially successful band. The band throw in a few short covers one of these being the mighty Panteras ‘Walk’ which though was short left everyone wanting more.
Overall, an awesome show with a amazing line-up that suited fans of all ages.
