The Pretty Wild Deliver Gnarly Debut zero.point.genesis

I’d like to start this review by saying what an incredible band The Pretty Wild are. This is my first time listening to them and I have to say, I’m not disappointed. I love metal bands, and I especially love discovering female-fronted ones, so when I was given the opportunity to review this album, I took it.

The Pretty Wild are a metal band from Las Vegas, Nevada, and are a sister duo. Jyl Wylde and Jules Wylde both handle vocals in the band.

They released their album zero.point.genesis on 21st November 2025, consisting of 11 tracks, having released a few singles beforehand as a teaser of what was to come. The first single from the album was ‘Button Eyes’ on 7th March 2025. Next came ‘OMENS’ on 8th May 2025, followed by ‘Living Ded’ on 10th July 2025. The fourth single was ‘PARADOX’ on 17th September 2025, with the final single ‘AFTERLIFE’ released on 16th October 2025.

This whole album is extremely heavy and brutal, which is exactly what I like. Fiery, raw, unique, intense, and authentic. I’m going to highlight a few tracks that made the top of the list for me personally.

Starting off the album we have ‘PARADOX’, which perfectly introduces what to expect. The track opens with one of the sisters growling the lyrics “Tear off my skin, rip it off,” such a brutal and direct way to kick things off. Guttural screams, violent breakdowns, a bit of rap, and melodic choruses all feature here. I especially love their vocals, they’re so powerful and impressive. The sisters can switch from guttural screams to rap to melodic harmonisation seamlessly. They certainly know how to open an album.

‘Button Eyes’ reminds me so much of Henry Selick’s film Coraline, and not just because of the title. It’s catchy, a little haunting, eerie, creepy, and whimsical. The track keeps me hooked with its dark fantasy horror vibes.

One more track that caught my attention is ‘hALf aLiVE’. It’s one of the slower songs on the album but still carries the same passion and emotion as the rest. It has such a beautiful chorus, the vocals are gentle and powerful at the same time.

Overall, the album is brutal, gnarly, catchy, unique, melodic, powerful, and impressive. So many words to describe it and yet not enough at the same time. I really enjoyed this album and will now be listening to the band on repeat. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love discovering new bands. The Pretty Wild have made it into my top 10 favourite metal bands list.

I highly recommend checking this band out and listening to this album. So many awesome tracks and heaviness.
