When Nothing Remains The Grim Reaper Has Tears

Swedish death-doom band When Nothing Remains has revealed the first song and music video from their upcoming album Echoes of Eternal Night. The track ‘The Grim Reaper’s Tears’ offers a first glimpse into the band’s forthcoming album, that marks a new, darker chapter in their musical journey.

The band explained that ‘The Grim Reaper’s Tears’ delves into the intricate emotions and internal conflict of death personified as the Grim Reaper. The lyrics explore a character often feared and misunderstood, portraying him as empathetic despite being the harbinger of death. The song depicts him feeling the sorrow and anguish of those whose lives he claims, silently observing the devastation of war with deep sadness as he guides fallen souls to the afterlife.

The new album from When Nothing Remains is set to explore the complexities of contemporary life through a series of interconnected stories, with each song offering a unique narrative.

When Nothing Remains features members from bands such as Nox Aurea, The Cold Existence, Rimfrost, Draconian, Doom: VS.

The When Nothing Remains idea was born in late 2010 when Peter Laustsen and Jan Sallander wanted to create something very dark and emotional. In 2011, Jonas Toxen jumped in for the drums and Johan Ericson (Draconian, Doom VS, Shadowgarden) for the clean vocals, mixing and mastering.

Their first album As All Torn Asunder was released in 2012 on the Russian label Solitude Productions, followed by Thy Dark Serenity (2013) and In Memoriam (2016).

In 2024 the band signed with The Circle Music for the release of their new album Echoes of Eternal Night.
