It’s been 11 years since Dimevision Vol 1: The Fun I Have landed in peoples ears. As 2017 rolls to an end there is a new offering of tracks recorded by the guitarist before his untimely death. Vol 2 has been put together by long time girlfriend Rita Haney and Dime’s closest and old friend Daryl “Bobby Tongs” Amberger who sifted through mountains of previously unheard recordings and footage he had (as he was Pantera’s official videographer) and picked some of the best for this volume.
The album consists of tracks that feature that quintessential Dime sound both acoustic and electric, in the now famous Texas tuning that helps his bands stand out. But for me the best tune on the album is ‘True’, Dimes homage to the late George Michael which has Dime emulating his pop hero in vocal styling as well as playing on what sounds like a cheesy Casio keyboard. This is not the longest of albums but is does show the depths of Dimes talent and there is also promise of other volumes coming soon as more footage and recording emerge.
