Airbourne have unwrapped an unexpected gift for the festive season. Following their triumphant return earlier this year with ‘Gutsy’, the Australian rock titans are spreading some holiday cheer with ‘Christmas Bonus’, a riff fuelled celebration that’s anything but traditional.
Growing up, frontman Joel O’Keeffe wanted Black Sabbath and AC/DC while everyone else was singing Silent Night. That spirit infuses every note of this track, complete with a cheeky Die Hard reference because, let’s be honest, nothing says Christmas quite like “Yippee ki yay.”
The production team behind this one reads like a rock royalty guest list. Brian Howes, who helmed Black Dog Barking back in 2013, handled production duties alongside legendary engineer Mike Fraser, whose resume includes AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Metallica. The mix comes courtesy of Zakk Cervini, known for his work with Architects and Dayseeker.
Airbourne will be bringing their trademark explosive energy to UK and European stages from late January through March 2026. With dates at Rock City Nottingham, the Roundhouse London, and venues across the continent already shifting tickets fast, this is one tour you won’t want to miss.
Sometimes rock music doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes it just needs to crank the amps and give us exactly what we came for.
