Our second favourite Australian hard rock band Airbourne, have signed a worldwide deal with Spinefarm Records. Second is not bad when it’s to AC/DC, who the band emulate. In fact we know that the AC/DC approve, as Angus Young, was recently asked in an interview what he thinks of modern rock music & he said “I see it as healthy, because there’s newer stuff coming through. I really like Airbourne”.
If you haven’t come across this band by now, you seriously need to check out their stuff. Their live performance is always a hard and fast shindig, to which is driven by the ethics of work-hard/play-hard. Front-man Joel O’keeffe is known for grabbing a beer mid-set and smashing it against his head until it explodes. We have also seen Joel get on the back of a security guard, to go on a walk around the venue, whilst still playing guitar.
“We’re pumped up to have signed on the dotted line to the world’s toughest and truest hard rock label, Spinefarm. We have worked with some of the guys on this team in the past, and we’re extremely confident about having each other’s back in the trenches for many hard rockin’ years to come. We’re chompin’ at the bit to get ROCKIN’ and KICKIN’ ARSE in 2015 & beyond” – CHEERS from Airbourne.
Airbourne have toured the world across the last 10 years, and have played with legends Iron Maiden and the Rolling Stones. Now joining forces with Spinefarm Records, where they shall be releasing album number 4, later on this year. This global deal sees Spinefarm partnering with Universal Germany’s Vertigo imprint for the German speaking markets.
“We are so proud to be the new global home for the amazing AIRBOURNE! They are a band who have thrilled audiences around the world with their insanely energetic live shows and wildly anthemic songs, and all of us at Spinefarm are thrilled to be part of their ensuing juggernaut.” – Spinefarm General Manager Worldwide, Jonas Nachsin.
