Ash Drop Festive Single to Close Out 2025

What a year it’s been for Ash. Between a packed touring schedule, festival appearances, and the release of their album Ad Astra, the Northern Irish trio have barely stopped to catch their breath. Now, as December rolls around, they’re closing out 2025 the only way that makes sense: with a Christmas single.

‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ marks the first time Ash have released a festive track as a band, though frontman Tim Wheeler is no stranger to the genre. Back in 2011, he teamed up with Emmy The Great for the album This Is Christmas, proving he knows his way around a sleigh bell or two. This time, the full band gets in on the action, delivering a version that’s pure Ash: energetic, guitar driven, and impossible not to smile at.

Drummer Rick McMurray summed up the year perfectly: “A flurry of touring, a brand new album, a summer of festival appearances, all gone in a flash. It feels like only yesterday we were touring with The Darkness and preparing to drop our first single from the album in the form of a cover of the classic ‘Jump The Line’. But wait; we’re not done yet.”

And he’s right. This is a fun, rockin’ Christmas track ready to get you in the festive spirit. If you’ve always preferred your seasonal soundtrack with a bit more crunch, this will slot perfectly into your playlist alongside the classics.

The single arrives as Ash gear up for a sold out run of Irish dates this month, including stops in Dublin, Cork, and Belfast. They’ll return to the UK in February 2026 for more headline shows in support of Ad Astra, with venues across the country already sold out.

After a year this packed, a Christmas cover feels like the perfect full stop. Or maybe it’s just the beginning of the next chapter. Either way, ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ is here to soundtrack your festivities.
