Black Spikes and Hippotraktor Lead Uprising X

Uprising is celebrating its tenth edition in style. Uprising X moves to a new home at the legendary KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on 9 and 10 April 2027, and the line-up keeps getting heavier.

The first announcement was led by Lithuanian modern metal band Black Spikes. They won over UK crowds on tour with Infected Rain and Butcher Babies, and they arrive with their second album Ydos behind them. Belgian post-metal five-piece Hippotraktor, part of the Pelagic Records roster, bring their heavy polyrhythmic grooves and huge atmospheric melodies, following sets at ArcTanGent and Damnation.

They’re joined by fellow Belgians Cobra The Impaler, whose albums Colossal Gods and Karma Collision took them to Graspop and Bloodstock. Copenhagen prog metal outfit Cold Night For Alligators make their festival debut after touring with Møl. Birmingham rockers Straight For The Sun and Leicester post-hardcore band Reckoner, already played on BBC Radio 1, complete the first wave.

Four more bands have now been added, all making their Uprising debuts.

Brighton alt metal band Sypha released their debut album Bad Choices in January 2026, and it passed a million streams in its first month. Doom fans get Godthrymm, a crushing band from the north featuring former members of My Dying Bride, who come with their latest album Projections. Also from Brighton, Crimson Veil have released their debut album Hex, toured with Combichrist and played Metal Hammer Festival in Germany, all in under two years. Local heroes Kensei bring anthemic metalcore and a party atmosphere. They’ve won Birmingham Metal 2 The Masses, played Bloodstock’s New Blood stage and released their debut album With Death I Walk.

The line-up so far is Black Spikes, Hippotraktor, Sypha, Godthrymm, Cold Night For Alligators, Cobra The Impaler, Straight For The Sun, Crimson Veil, Kensei and Reckoner, with more still to come.

We love seeing an independent festival reach ten years, and a bill that runs from Belgian post-metal to northern doom shows Uprising isn’t playing it safe. A tenth birthday at KK’s Steel Mill sounds like one hell of a party.

Early bird tickets have sold out. General tickets are £40 plus fees, 12 to 16-year-olds are £20 and under 12s go free.
