Black Stone Cherry Team With Sands for Powerful New Track

Black Stone Cherry have released their brand new seven track EP Celebrate via Mascot Records, and the focus track ‘Deep’ is an emotional masterpiece. The Kentucky quartet have laid themselves bare on this one, pairing the song with a deeply personal music video and a partnership with Sands, the UK charity dedicated to saving babies’ lives and supporting bereaved families.

Guitarist Ben Wells has spoken openly about the song’s origins, revealing that he and his wife have struggled with infertility for over a decade. During the writing sessions for this EP, they discovered they were pregnant, only for it to end in miscarriage. It’s that devastating experience that fuels ‘Deep’, and you can hear every ounce of it. Wells has said he hopes the song will help others going through similar pain, and with Sands behind it, there’s a real chance it will reach those who need it most.

The EP itself is a collection of contrasts. From the grungy, Nirvana-tinged singalong ‘I’m Fine’ to a curveball cover of the Simple Minds classic ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ featuring guest vocals from Tyler Connolly of Theory Of A Deadman.

Black Stone Cherry have also announced a massive ‘An Evening With’ UK tour running from October into November, with shows already sold out across Nottingham, Norwich, Manchester, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Cardiff, Torquay and Frome. The evening promises two separate sets: their legendary 2006 self-titled debut played in full for its 20th anniversary, plus a second set of classics and new material from Celebrate. The tour wraps with two nights at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
