Board the Deathbringer with Iron Savior

One of Europe’s most consistent and productive power metal bands, Germany’s Iron Savior will see their new album, Deathbringer, released on 13th November via Frontiers Music Srl, and out now is the latest single taken from it, ‘Climbing Higher’.

“For sure another hit single,” said vocalist and guitarist Piet Sielck. “‘Climbing Higher’ is probably the most commercial song on the album. Of course, those kind of tunes always risk to be cheesy and to disappear as fast as they have risen… But this one has something special that, at least for me, makes it one of the strongest tracks. Even though the song is commercial, it’s full of honest emotions blended together with catchy melodies… I love this song!”

Deathbringer follows the third instalment of the Reforged series, where Iron Savior completely rerecorded the songs from their Noise Records era, a covers album, and 2023 album Firestar. The band’s Deathbringer album was produced by Sielck at his own Powerhouse Studio, with Joachim ‘Piesel’ Küstner on guitars, Patrick Opitz on bass, and Patrick Klose on drums.

The record sees Iron Savior returning to the concept album format. The story goes that after 200 years of peace, the galaxy once again stands on the brink: The Shadows, an insectoid species and ancient enemy of mankind, have returned. Aboard the gigantic Deathbringer vessel, their immortal queen has preserved the last remnants of her species inside an eternal digital hive, sustained by the life force of countless worlds. Now the Iron Savior and the Alliance must face an enemy more powerful than ever before.

Musically and narratively, Deathbringer is said to bring together everything Iron Savior have stood for over the past three decades: “powerful power metal, huge choruses, sci-fi grandeur and a band that, even after 30 years, has lost none of its energy”.

Deathbringer features: ‘Shadows Of Neverness’, ‘Deathbringer’, ‘Light In The Dark’, ‘The Creature’s Tale’, ‘Back From The Fires Of Hell’, ‘To Boldly Go’, ‘Climbing Higher’, ‘No Deal’ (bonus track), ‘Dawn Of Deliverance’, ‘Gunslinger’, ‘Never To Yield’, ‘Forever And A Day’ and ‘Fever’ (bonus track, a Judas Priest cover), the one thing that unites them being their anthemic approach.

‘Light In The Dark’ from the album was their previous single, with Sielck stating: “‘Light In The Dark’ is part of the epic Iron Savior story line, which started 30 years ago when I wrote the lyrics for the self-titled debut album. It’s a story about hope and desperation, bravery and determination, life and death, darkness and light… Just like sometimes in real life. With the chorus section as the heart of the song, this speed attack will make you see the light in the dark before your imaginary eyes.”

Their second single was ‘The Creature’s Tale’, about which Sielck said: “Of course the classic Frankenstein story has been told in many ways before, but it appears to never lose its fascination, especially in our modern world with biogenetic manipulation and artificial intelligence. What is life? This question hasn’t been answered yet sufficiently… I was really inspired by the Netflix movie in 2025, especially from the last part when the story is narrated by the creature… The Creature’s Tale.”

‘Back From The Fires Of Hell’ had been the first single, and Sielck explained how the song holds a very special meaning for him. Even its title immediately catches the ear, as it directly recalls ‘Through The Fires Of Hell’, a track from the previous album Firestar. “I wrote the first lyrics before I received my cancer diagnosis… Then poetry turned into bitter reality… Although in a different way than I had originally imagined,” he said. “We went through this together… ‘Through The Fires Of Hell’ is therefore more like poetry dedicated to my wife, while ‘Back From The Fires Of Hell’ is more of a reflection on actual events.”

Regarding their change of record label, Sielck commented: “After all these years in the metal world, it feels truly special to start this new journey with a new partner by our side. Even more special is the fact that this step also means reconnecting with longtime friends and companions from the past, people I have shared many years of musical experiences with and who share the same passion for honest, powerful heavy metal.”
