Birmingham’s breakout indie blues & rock band Broken Witt Rebels have a new single ‘Guns’ taken from their Georgia Pine EP, due for release on 17th June. While their hometown has its inner city problems, the lines “Born and raised where Guns are made, they burn bright like a cigarette” are not a comment on gangland culture, but the fact that the city was once renowned as the centre of the world’s gun-manufacturing industry.
However, what’s more important to music lovers is that on Wednesday 25th May they released a video for the single to Youtube and it reached over 100,000 views and was featured on the website’s front page; then overnight it went on to secure well over 400,000 views.
It transpires this success follows on from them having released a live video version of their ‘Low’ single to the band’s Facebook Page, where it reached 130,000 views within four days. They were contacted by social media company Buzzfeed and invited to play a live streamed gig for the company’s 1.3m strong Facebook group, as part of their Music Breaks Series, the impact of which can now be felt by the video success of ‘Guns’ .
Having already received a thumbs up from Ramzine for their Georgia Pine EP and playing live, you can also check out ‘Guns’ on SoundCloud and the Georgia Pine EP available via iTunes or Spotify. Even better, catch them on tour
