Scottish hard rock band Mason Hill has regretfully announced that “long-time friend, singer and frontman Scott Taylor is to leave the band”. This follows a recent medical scare, and Scott has decided that he now needs to take time to consider his future.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce I am leaving Mason Hill,” said Taylor who started the band with guitarist James Bird, the pair having attended school together.
“It has been a fantastic journey with many great moments but right now I just need to take time to re-evaluate my career path. It has been an incredibly difficult decision and I wish the band all the very best moving forward,” he added.
His longtime friend Bird added: “We are sad about this turn of events but we fully respect Scott’s decision and wish him all the very best in his future pursuits.”
Mason Hill’s debut 2021 album Against The Wall was a Top 20 chart topper and they have built a rock following, supporting the likes of Graham Bonnett, Snakecharmer and Stone Broken and others along the way.
A much anticipated second album was planned for 2024, and Bird alongside fellow guitarist Marc Montgomery, bassist Matthew Ward and drummer Craig McFetridge will now commence their search for a new singer for Mason Hill, a matter they are optimistic about, Bird having declared: Mason Hill will continue the same trajectory as before and we are all excited about the great new material we have written for album 2”.
