Tel Aviv musicians Lev Kerzhner and Noa Gruman have gathered alumni from such diverse bands as Kamelot, The Sister Of Mercy and Scardust to perform on their charity release ‘Together On Our Own‘, in support of support of the Light For The World International Covid Relief Fund.
Living and working in a creative musical hub in Ramat Gan, at the height of the lockdown in mid-April Noa overheard Lev playing one of his unrecorded songs, and hearing the lyrics and hypnotic chorus she realised that it perfectly captured mood of the way the world is living under Covid today, where life as we knew it changed overnight.
“Who would think it could come to an end, so quickly”, those words ran, and the human spirit and determination not to be beaten prevailed with the following, “When it’s darkest we unite!… As we go on, together on our own.”
Together, Noa & Lev set about contacting musicians and singers from all around the globe and assembled a talented cast of 66 who gave their time to sing, play and film their parts for this powerful song at home.
We’re talking Alex Landenberg of Kamelot on drums, Ally Storch of Subway To Sally on violins, viola and cello, Ben Christo of Sisters Of Mercy of guitar, Oceans on Orion’s Lev Kerzhner on vocals, ex-Obscura bass player Linus Klausenitzer, Moran Magal on piano, vocalist Noa Gruman double bass player Yanai Avnet both from Scardust, alongside 58 singers from choirs in Austria, Finland, Germany, Israel, Norway and the UK.
’Together On Our Own’ was mixed by Tony Wilson in London and mastered by Maor Applebaum in LA. Released in support of support of the Light For The World international Covid Relief Fund, you can make donations via this link.
