Defecto… Eclipsed By The Void

Formed in Denmark back in 2011 by guitarist/vocalist Nicklas Sonne, guitarist Frederik Møller, and bassist Thomas Bartholin, heavy metal band Defecto has their new studio album, Echoes Of Isolation, out now, via Frontiers Music Srl. Also out, their latest single and video ‘Eclipsed By The Void‘.

Echoes Of Isolation finds the band at its most persona and intense, with an introspective concept album that explores the haunting landscape of mental illness and psychological struggles.

“Each song inhabits a different psychological struggle – insomnia, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, paranoia, dissociation, trauma – giving voice to the war within,” said Sonne. “This isn’t just a metal album. It’s a mirror held to the mind.

“For us, it’s about turning pain into power, and creating something that can connect deeply with anyone who has ever felt broken, isolated, or misunderstood, he added.

“’Eclipsed By The Void’ captures the endless loop of trauma – The flashbacks, the noise, the weight that refuses to fade. It’s about the war that continues long after the battle is over.”

It followed second single and accompanying video from the long player, ‘Eternal Descent’ about which Nicklas Sonne said: “’Eternal Descent’ dives into the endless spiral of insomnia – where nights feel like prisons, thoughts race without mercy, and the line between dreams and reality slowly disappears”

First single, ‘Sacred Alignment’, dug into the reality of OCD – a condition that is so often misunderstood,” said the band. “It’s not about being neat or organised, it’s about living in a prison built by your own thoughts. It’s about the rituals that demand obedience, the fear that refuses to let go, and the endless fight for control in a world that feels like it’s collapsing without it. This song captures that battle – the brutality of the mind, and the strange balance between order and chaos.”

Defecto is respected on the Danish metal scene for their technical precision, melodic strength, and emotional intensity, while delving into progressive and cinematic metal that fans of Metallica, Symphony X and Evergrey are likely to appreciate.

The Copenhagen-based band has this far released three studio albums, two EPs, made several festival appearances and supported both Metallica and Rammstein on tour.

Tracks featured on the album are: ‘The Unraveling’, ‘Eternal Descent’, ‘Sacred Alignment’, ‘Eclipsed By The Void’, ‘Heart On Fire’, ‘Quantum Abyss’ ‘Through Cloak And Bones’, Shattered Reality’ and ‘Echoes Of Isolation’ – You can order the album here.
