Just in time for their tour kick-off with Black Bomb A and Space Of Variations, German metal band Dust Bolt has unleashed ‘Who I Am’, a previously-unreleased gem taken off the band’s Trapped In Chaos album recordings.
Frontman, Lenny B revealed: “‘Who I Am’ is a thrash hardcore banger that we recorded during the sessions for our fourth album Trapped In Chaos. The song kind of got lost in the archives at some point, but when I stumbled across it again this year, I thought, ‘This is a pretty cool tune, and it would suck not to show it to the fans and not release it.’
Being on tour with a special lineup featuring Black Bomb A and Space Of Variations, this fall/winter, which will definitely introduce Dust Bolt to a new audience, it felt like the right time to present ‘Who I Am’. I think the title fits perfectly, and we are very excited to add it to this very special setlist that we’re going to play on this tour. See you all on the road. The Bolt is on fire!”
Since their formation in 2007, Dust Bolt has been resolute and ruthless in their pursuit of metal glory over the last 16 years. Childhood friends with a collective passion for metal in all its various forms, the quartet have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading thrash metal bands. Theirlatest, much discussed studio album Sound & Fury (released in February 2024 on AFM Records, available here), refines the band’s sound for a new era.
Written during those isolated months of pandemic lockdown, Sound & Fury represents a major leap forward in every department. The first Dust Bolt record to feature new bassist Tom Liebing, alongside Lenny Bruce, guitarist Florian Dehn and drummer Nico Remann, Sound & Fury grew from a long period of self-reflection that began when the world shut down.
Although still rooted in thrash and old school metal, the new record adds dazzling colour and diversity to the band’s trademark sound. With pummelling grooves, spine-tingling dynamics and a startling, part-melodic vocal performance from Lenny Bruce who also produced and recorded the album, with an analogue mix by Moritz Enders (Revolverheld, Silbermond).
