Irish blues rock guitarist Eamonn McCormack is set to release his eighth studio album on 3rd February. The self-titled released is said to be packed to the brim with a hybrid of intense blues rock, mixed with contemporary Americana, and Celtic folk styles.
With his brand-new album, McCormack introduces the listener to a supercharged, heavy-rocking portrayal of the his life as a travelling blues rock guitarist. Featuring a collection of tracks that incorporate the life experiences that he’s encountered during his journey over the last few years, the result is an album that is said to feel like a handful of rich, fertile soil, composed from some of the most impactful moments in the guitarists career to date.
Known for a more left of centre approach to his song-writing, McCormack strays from the usual blues lyrical stereotypes, and instead, addresses more relevant, and topical subject matters such as on ‘Living Hell’ that highlights the increasing threat of weapons of mass destruction, to guns in the hands of teens on our streets, to child soldiers, or the insufferable fear of humanity wiping itself out with the push of a button on, ‘Angel of Love’.
At the other end of the spectrum, the joy of living life to the fullest takes the stage in the dance floor-stomper, ‘Rock’n’Roll Boogie Shoes’. McCormack also pays respects to some of music’s greatest visionaries with ‘Hats Off To Lemmy’ (for Lemmy of Motörhead), and ‘Lady Lindy’, an ode to the great aviator, and pioneer, Amelia Earhart.
Born in Dublin City. McCormack started playing the acoustic guitar at the tender age of six, and was later encouraged by his classmate, Gerry Leonard (David Bowie, Suzanne Vega) to continue following his dream to be a recording artist. And that’s exactly what he did.
In his early twenties, the guitarist found himself in America, where he performed extensively with various musicians, developing his style, all-the-while absorbing the deep rich history of the legendary Americana scene. McCormack’s unique style began to draw attention from major labels, including Universal Records, who signed the guitarist, under the stage name; ‘Samuel Eddie’ in conjunction with SPV Records for a worldwide licensing deal.
The following two decades saw McCormack release three critically acclaimed albums, leading to recording sessions with some of his idols such as Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter, Jan Ackerman (ex-Focus), Pat Travers, and Brian ‘Robbo’ Robertson (Thin Lizzy, Motörhead).
His last album, Storyteller, was released in Europe/UK in May 2020, where it reached Number 1 on the Blues Charts in over half a dozen countries. A later release in the United States followed in 2021, to great response. His new self-titled new album was recorded in June, 2022 and is set for release on 3rd February.
