Eva Under Fire have returned with ‘Murder Scene’, released via Better Noise Music, and it hits right in the feels. Sometimes you just need music like this. Raw, unflinching, and driven by deep emotional vocals that cut through every layer of noise in your head.
The Detroit quintet’s latest single follows on from last October’s ‘Awakening’, which marked their first new music in two years. Where that track was a blistering anthem about conquering personal demons, ‘Murder Scene’ digs into something darker and more vulnerable: eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-doubt, and the cruel irony of chasing a dream only to have the spotlight magnify your deepest insecurities.
“The dream of being on stage comes with a spotlight on my personal flaws,” says singer and songwriter Amanda Lyberg. “I’m just a body. To be picked apart and judged and perceived. Anxiety is a liar in my head. It tells me I’m not good enough to be here. So, I fight it.”
Lyberg is a practising psychotherapist specialising in trauma, grief, and addiction recovery. Her father passed away from a fentanyl overdose in 2018, the same year she earned her Master’s degree in Psychology. Her mother survived the same batch and has been sober for six years. That lived experience fuels everything Eva Under Fire creates, and you can hear every ounce of it in ‘Murder Scene’.
Her story also inspired the 2023 short film My Rockstar, which has won over 20 awards at festivals worldwide.
Eva Under Fire released their debut album Love, Drugs & Misery in 2022, featuring the Top 20 Active Rock single ‘Unstoppable’ with Cory Marks. They have since amassed over 100 million streams and toured with Bush, Bad Wolves, Pop Evil, Skillet, and Finger Eleven.
The band hit the road today (8 February) for a six-week U.S. tour with Jeris Johnson and Butcher Babies, before joining Five Finger Death Punch and Cody Jinks on the “20th Anniversary World Tour 2026” this summer.
