Foo Fighters Unleash New Single ‘Your Favorite Toy’

Foo Fighters have dropped ‘Your Favorite Toy’, the title track and lead single from their 12th studio album, due out April 24th via Roswell Records/Columbia Records.

‘Your Favorite Toy’ sounds like nothing else in the band’s back catalogue, yet it’s unmistakably Foo Fighters. Jagged guitar shards collide with sinister keyboard stabs over a relentless rhythmic pulse, while Dave Grohl channels a newly sardonic vocal delivery on choruses that will lodge themselves firmly in your head whether you like it or not. This is a fun, danceable track that’s going to go down an absolute treat at festivals this summer.

Grohl said of the track: “It really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album. We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”

The album follows last year’s single ‘Asking For A Friend’ and was recorded at home, co-produced by the band alongside Oliver Roman, who also engineered, with mixing by Mark “Spike” Stent.

The full tracklist for Your Favorite Toy reads: ‘Caught In The Echo’, ‘Of All People’, ‘Window’, ‘Your Favorite Toy’, ‘If You Only Knew’, ‘Spit Shine’, ‘Unconditional’, ‘Child Actor’, ‘Amen, Caveman’ and ‘Asking For A Friend’.

Take Cover world tour, launching June 10th at Unity Arena in Oslo. UK fans can catch the band at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium on June 25th and 27th, following US festival headlines at Welcome to Rockville and Bottlerock.

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin.
