AC/DC aside Australia’s most successful rock export is quite likely the Little River Band and now lead vocalist Glenn Shorrock is set to reclaim his past with the release of a new album covering some of his greatest hits.
Glenn Shorrock Sings Little River Band is due for release on 8th March through Social Family Records and will feature ‘It’s A Long Way There’, ‘Help Is On Its Way’, ‘Home On Monday’, ‘Shut Down Turn Off’, ‘Take It Easy On Me’, ‘Lonesome Loser’, ‘Cool Change’, ‘Curiosity Killed the Cat’, ‘The Night Owls’ and ‘Reminiscing’ all recorded live in the studio.
The singer/songwriter has the distinction of being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame twice, both as a member of Little River Band and as a solo artist. His family having migrated from England to Australia in the mid-1950s, as the decade turned a young Shorrock was soon singing in a rock ‘n’ roll band. As frontman with 60s pop group The Twilights he scored eight hit singles, following it with 10 hits as a member of 70s country rock outfit Axiom, and for a time Eperanto, a progressive rock band.
International success came as a co-founder of the Little River Band, a harmony rock band who some mistook for a better sounding version of The Eagles with a dash of Steely Dan thrown in for good measure. The band hit big over in the USA, with eight Top 10 hit singles, and 30 million album sales worldwide. Over 30 members have passed through the band’s line-up though, and no original member plays in the most recent line-up, Birtles Shorrock Goble being an offshoot featuring three founder members.
Now in his 70s, Shorrock does not appear to show any signs of slacking. Rise Again, His previous solo album was released in 2016; his autobiography Now, Where Was I? was released last year, and following the release of Glenn Shorrock Sings Little River Band he’ll be touring again.
‘The Night Owls’ penned by long-time friend and fellow Little River Band member Graeham Goble is the album’s first single and available as an instant gratis track for those who pre-order the album.
