Global artist management company, ie:music is expanding its horizons and looking beyond the likes of Robbie Williams and Passenger to invest in rock acts. To that end they have brought on board, Leander Gloversmith, a specialist in rock and metal artist management.
The past 12 years have found Gloversmith helping sign and develop the likes of Architects, Lower Than Atlantis and Creeper, and with ie:music he will be responsible for globally recognised UK pop-punk act Neck Deep, whose last album The Peace And The Panic reached #5 on both of sides of the Atlantic; Brighton post-hardcore group As It Is, winners of Rock Sound’s 2018 Power of Music award (for raising mental health awareness through music), and newly signed heavy metal act Frost Koffin who hail from Texas, USA.
Discussing the rock scene, Gloversmith said, “A lot is said about the diminished state of this scene, yet ie:music are doubling down on rock and metal as we believe it to be in rude health, birthing some of the most exciting and creative artists around, many of whom are quietly ascending to arena headline status without a drop of mainstream support. Paired with its passionate, multi-generational audiences, this is truly a world of lifers, on and off-stage.”
ie:music has embraced digital revolution; an aspect of the recording industry that the rock and metal community has generally been slow to take on board or indeed frowned upon. Their exploration and ability to capitalise on such opportunities for their artists – and in a transparent manner – could help pave a way for rock music to continue to flourish, so it will be worth watching how their new signings develop.
