Iron Maiden were awarded the O2 Silver Clef award for ‘Outstanding Contribution To UK Music 2015’ tonight (March 23rd). The prize was announced at a private party at The Club in Cafe Royal, London.
The ceremony was hosted by music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, the event also marked 40 years of the charity.
The band gave this statement:
Nordoff Robbins is an exceptional charity and their dedication to changing people’s lives through music therapy is something we all very much support. We’re extremely proud to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award and be part of the 40th anniversary event celebrating this wonderful achievement.”
More awards will be announced on July 3rd at the O2 Silver Clef Lunch.
Meanwhile, Iron Maiden also announced that their 16th is recorded and will be released in the next couple of months. This followed the tragic news that front man Bruce Dickinson was receiving treatment for cancer in February. Bruce has been reported to be recovering and should return to full health soon.
