Red Giant exclaim ‘It’s All Gone Wrong’ on their new single, the second one taken from their forthcoming Red Giant – Vol. 1 EP, due Wednesday 29th April.
Bruised, battered but still busking away, pouring out their frustration and scorn over the current state of the music industry on new single ‘It’s All Gone Wrong’, at times Red Giant come on like fuzzed-up indie-shaking sonic blues gypsies.
Music changes, it always has. Styles and genres come and go out of fashion, but when it comes from within it can touch us to the very core of our being. A.I. crafted product is not going to achieve that within the arts, much as our would-be paymasters might order us to believe otherwise.
In this case, Red Giant’s ‘It’s All Gone Wrong’ is not just intended as a plea for recognition, it is a warning to the world.
Featuring YouTube sensation Dave Simpson on guitars and vocals, Johnny Simpson on bass guitar, and John Joe Gaskin on drums, Red Giant – Vol. 1 was mixed, produced, and mastered by Matt Crawford and features the tracks ‘Are You Alright?’, ‘Can’t Find Me’, ‘It’s All Gone Wrong’ and ‘Overcome’. It can be ordered here.
Red Giant’s songs are all written by Simpson, and have at times expressed his personal struggles with mental health. The band recently took on Robert Johnson’s blues classic ‘If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day’ and toured the UK this spring with Troy Redfern.
Simpson first picked up the guitar at 16 years old. Since then, David has been a prominent performer in several bands, notably the blues-based Dave Simpson Trio, before co-founding Red Giant in 2024 and subsequently recording their self-titled debut album. ‘It’s All Gone Wrong’ is available on all streaming platforms here, and you can watch the music video by Totty Simpson here at RAMzine.
