Jim Peterik & Cathy Richardson’s Double Rainbow

River of Music: The Power Of Duets, Vol. 1 is out now on Frontiers Music Srl from Jim Peterik & World Stage. So too, new single ‘Double Rainbow’ featuring Cathy Richardson alongside a music video.

“I have enjoyed writing and performing with Cathy Richardson since the day she auditioned at my studio all those years ago,” said Peterik. “She was just 21 then but her voice and spirit blew me away. I co-produced her first album Moon Not Banana that went to be a classic fan favorite. Now as lead singer for the amazing Jefferson Starship our journey continues. Our latest collaboration for my new The Power of Duets album for Frontiers continues our journey together.

‘Double Rainbow’ is a song I wrote inspired by our long history together. ‘The Moment I saw your face there appeared a double rainbow. A God wink a glimpse of grace,’ Indeed. And through the years we feel it whenever we get together. Shine on, Cathy!”

The Grammy-winning songwriter and founding member of Survivor and The Ides of March delivers what is said to be one of his most personal and inspired projects to date. Intended as a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of collaboration, where each song becomes a shared story told through harmony, emotion, and musical chemistry.

Produced by Ron Nevison, known for his work Survivor, Heart, Foreigner, and countless others, River Of Music: The Power Of Duets, Vol. 1 carries the warmth and polish of classic rock records, while embracing a sense of intimacy and freshness that speaks to Peterik’s creative fire.

Across ten tracks, the album features Peterik’s gift for melody and his ability to connect with artists across generations. On title track ‘River of Music’, he shares the microphone with his son Colin Peterik, capturing a father-son bond rooted in music. That chemistry returns in ‘Slow Lightning’, a moment of atmospheric beauty that blends poetic lyrics with cinematic instrumentation. Elsewhere, he finds common ground with Jason Scheff (formerly of Chicago) in the contemplative ‘The Cadence Of Things’.

Vocalist Toby Hitchcock (Pride Of Lions) brings fire and range to two standout moments –‘Soul Of My Being’, a soulful duet with Bree Gordon, and a powerful reinterpretation of theSurvivor classic ‘In Good Faith’, sung alongside rising star Kaity Heart. Peterik and Kaity Heart also deliver ‘I’m a Survivor’, an original anthem that echoes the resilience and passion at the core of his songwriting.

Other duets include new single ‘Double Rainbow’ with Jefferson Starship’s Cathy Richardson, ‘Waiting for You’ performed by Dave Mikulskis and Bree Gordon, and the uplifting ‘Everything You Need’, that reunites the Peteriks one more time. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians including drummers Denny Fongheiser and Ed Breckenfeld, bassists Tony Franklin and Bob Lizik, guitarists Phil X and Mike Aquino, and keyboardists Kim Bullard and Kim Peterik, the album is said to be as sonically powerful as it is emotionally resonant.

On previos single ‘Between Two Fires’ Peterik traded verses with REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin. “‘Between Two Fires’ is one of my favorite song collaborations and vocal duets of all time,” said Peterik. “Our voices and writing styles have always seemed to blend. In all the many years I have known Kevin, touring with and writing with him, our mutual respect has always shined through.”This is only Volume 1: with Volume 2 already on the horizon, it can be ordered here from Frontiers Music Srl and will be out on 12th December.

The first single released was ‘The Cadence Of Things (Featuring Jason Scheff)’, with Jim Peterik commenting:“‘The Cadence Of Things’ is one of my favourite tracks on my new Frontiers release. On this song, I am honoured to share vocals with the great Jason Scheff (lead singer with the group Chicago for 30 years, and son of Jerry Scheff – the long-time bassist for Elvis Presley).

“The song speaks to the rhythm of life all around us – the sound of love in the making – the sound of a heart when it’s breaking – It’s the ‘Cadence Of Things’. The video was expertly shot by Greg Bizzaro. Enjoy!”
