Kid Kapichi have dropped their latest single ‘Worst Kept Secret’ ahead of their new album Fearless Nature, out January 16th, 2026 via Spinefarm.
The Hastings duo have been through it over the past couple of years. Line-up changes, creative reinvention, and for frontman Jack Wilson, some of the darkest times of his life. But here they are, still standing, still making music that means something.
‘Worst Kept Secret’ was the last track written for the album, arriving during a period when everything finally started clicking into place. Wilson explains the song came after listening to Richard Ashcroft and Unkle, and you can hear those influences woven through the track. There’s a real Oasis and early Gorillaz vibe here, that kind of easy listening rock that’s perfect to have on in the house. Chill, melodic, but with enough depth to keep you coming back.
Lyrically, it explores that frustrating middle ground we’ve all been in. Are we friends or something more? Both people knowing the answer but neither brave enough to ask the question. It’s honest, relatable songwriting that doesn’t try too hard.
The album itself marks a turning point for Kid Kapichi. Wilson admits he was going through personal struggles during the writing process, and you can hear that vulnerability throughout. But rather than wallowing, there’s something hopeful about it. As he puts it, it’s comforting to know how quickly things can change for the better.
Where previous records looked outward at the news and world affairs, Fearless Nature turns the lens inward. Wilson describes it beautifully: seeing your reflection as you look out the window rather than what’s on the other side.
Catch Kid Kapichi at in-stores across the UK from January 15th, starting at Banquet in Kingston and finishing up at Music’s Not Dead in Bexhill-on-Sea on January 22nd. Festival appearances are also lined up throughout 2026, including Bearded Theory, Truck Fest, Y Not, and APE Fest.
