King Zebra… Survivors!

Swiss hard rockers King Zebra release their new album Survivors on 17th September, the first full-length album release for the band on Crusader Records.

Ahead of that arrives ‘We’re The Survivors’ the band’s latest single.

According to the band, the song is a celebration for “all who made it through the pandemic with our music & freedom still intact”.

You can watch the video for it here at RAMzine and order it here.

Featuring Eric St. Michaels, Roman Lauer, Jerry Napitupulu, Manu Judge and Ben Grimm, King Zebra released their first single in early 2017, titled ‘Bad Idea’. It was followed by three other singles ‘That’s What I Like’, ‘Firewalker’ and ‘Like A Hurricane’. Then in 2019 came their self-titled EP, with ‘Firewalker’ gaining over 1.3 million streams on Spotify.

The last three years the band have played shows such as Rock the Ring and Rock of Ages, as well as supporting iconic bands such as Lynyrd SkynyrdUriah Heep and Rose Tattoo. King Zebra has toured through Eastern Europe, playing sold out shows abroad and in their home country of Switzerland.

In the year that brought on the global pandemic, 2020 saw King Zebra spend three weeks in Gothenburg and Sweden to produce their upcoming album with Oscar Nilsson (Hank von Hell, Engel, We Sell The Dead). The album also features collaborations with Thundermother’s singer Guernica Mancini, who is featured on the new record and is heard on the first single ‘Wall of Confusion’.

Survivors features the following 10 melodic hard rock anthems:

‘Under Destruction’ that’s said to come at you “like a truck racing down a hill”. The title is a play on the phrase “under construction”. However, in this case it speaks of lies and misinformation that lead to mistrust or social demolition.

‘She Don’t Like My Rock & Roll’ is about how it’s not easy hanging on if your partner doesn’t dig the roots of your soul. “Killer riffs, a melancholic harmony and a striking brass section in the chorus,” is what we’re told to expect.

‘Desperate’ is a party crashing, straight out of the 80s rollercoaster ride into the world of stardom. Some rise and some fall. ‘Desperate’ aims its melodic rock riffs and lyrics right between the eyes of the dark side of making it in rock music.

‘Wall of Confusion’ is about not believing all that you hear, and guest features Guernica Mancini.

‘On The Run’ is a melodramatic, mid-tempo rock track driven by loud guitars, lush orchestration and deep lyrics. Described as “driving with the wind in your hair” music.

‘Rush’ promises “epic hard rock solos” where we’ll “have time to breathe in this groovy scenario of hurry up and wait”.

‘Hot Cop Lady’ is intended as a fast, hard rocking crowd-pleaser.

‘We Are One’ is a song for the mad majority of folks who were struck down by one thing or another and find their way back through togetherness. A heavy moody rock track to suit its theme.

‘Be The Hunter’ is a loud smasher of a rock song with a “back to our roots” anthem, hard driving rhythm and tons of cool riffs.
