Belgian black metal band Krvl will release their second album, Donkere Paden, on 11th October, having signed with These Hands Melt, the new home for dark and atmospheric music.
Following on from their debut Kravaal (self-released, 2022), Donkere Paden 2024 will be available on CD, vinyl and in digital formats, and it’s said it “will bring even more darkness and despair which will be divided into seven chapters.” The album will feature guest vocalists H. from Oerheks and Shazzula from Wolvennest.
Krvl (pronounced Kravaal) was established at the height of the covid 19 pandemic in 2020, creating a perfect mood for the writing and recording of their debut album Kravaal. Eventually, the album was self-released digitally in 2022 and then on vinyl in 2023.
The band is said to comprise “nameless souls that drift through the Kravaal Forest in Belgium in search of the light amongst the darkness they find themselves in”. With lyrics in Dutch, the band contemplates topics such as nature, finding inner peace, nemesis, resurrection and an attempt to find light in the darkness.
Musically, the band is all about atmosphere. With a foundation of traditional 90s and modern black metal, the anonymous band also mixes post-metal, doom and sludge influences.

Tracks featured on Donkere Paden are ‘De Koning Van Stilte’, ‘Avondrood’, ‘Cadans Der Droefheid’, ‘ Duivelsputten’ (featuring H.), ‘De Verloren Herder’, ‘Zielenrust’ (featuring Shazzulah) and ‘Het Onbegrip’.
