Landfall are Running in Circles

Brazilian melodic rock band Landfall has unveiled their latest album, Wide Open Sky, which is now available through Frontiers Music Srl.

The lineup includes vocalist Gui Oliver (formerly of Auras), guitarist Marcelo Gelbcke, bassist Luis Rocha, and drummer Felipe Souzza. While some listeners draw comparisons to Journey and other heavier acts like Dokken, White Lion, and Extreme, I believe such comparisons overlook the progressive elements and unique journey that the band is embarking on.

They have offered a preview with the single ‘Running in Circles’; the full album features tracks of this caliber which are certainly worth checking out. Though it draws inspiration from 80s AOR sounds, it leans more towards MSG than Journey—and in my opinion, that’s a positive distinction.

Wide Open Sky is out now.

Now if only I could get my Strat & Musicman to sound in reality how they do in my head!
