Australian rock band Leadfinger release their new album Silver & Black on February 25th through Golden Robot Records. Their first since 2016’s Friday Night Heroes it comes on the back of three singles released last year and a final preview single out now in ‘Sleeping Dogs’.
Leadfinger has been a mainstay on the underground rock scene since 2006, releasing five previous albums through labels like Citadel Records in Australia and Bang! Records out of Spain. They returned to playing live in 2021.
The name Leadfinger was originally a nom de plume for the band’s songwriter and guitarist Stewart Cunningham, who’d previously plied his guitar-slinger trade in the late 80’ with seminal pre-grunge band Proton Energy Pills, followed by underground acts such as Brother Brick, Asteroid B-612, Challenger-7 and The Yes-Men.
This 2006 solo project, morphed into a twin guitar rock n’ roll band that mines the deep seam of rock ’n’ roll, back through the 70s rock and punk eras to the classic Stones and Dylan records of the 60s and beyond. Their timeless song writing and heart on sleeve delivery has won them many fans.
Silver & Black is the start of a new chapter for the band and is available for pre-order on CD and digitally here, and on vinyl here.
‘Sleeping Dogs’ is a hook laden 2-minute rush of high-energy power-pop rock filled with punchy hooks, stinging guitar licks and soaring vocal melodies. “Sometimes you’ve gotta let sleeping dogs lie, sometimes you gotta look the future in the eye!” go the lyrics.
You can order ‘Sleeping Dogs’ here and watch the video for it right here at RAMzine.
