A Lonely Empire & Helena

Out now,Australian teen metal/punk band Lonely Empire issue what’s been described as “a haunting and high-octane cover” of My Chemical Romance’s iconic hit ‘Helena’, on all major platforms Golden Robot Records.

Said to stay true to the emotional intensity of the original while injecting a modern, cinematic heaviness, Lonely Empire reimagines ‘Helena’ while being a salute to the legacy of 2000s emo, filtered through the band’s gritty, post-hardcore lens. The result is a blistering homage that doesn’t just revisit the past but resurrects the song

Adelaide band Lonely Empire‘s debut EP, Dawn Of The Empire, was releaed earlier this year.

Featuring a mix of heavy riffs, anthemic choruses, and poignant commentary, Dawn Of The Empire showcases the band’s unique fusion of metal and punk influences. With tracks like their debut single ‘Like A Misfit’ and follow-up release ‘Convoluted Insanity’, the EP serves as both a declaration of intent and a thrilling invitation to their expanding fan base.

“This EP is a reflection of the struggles and triumphs we face in a world that feels increasingly chaotic,” said lead singer Lucas. It’s our way of connecting with anyone who’s ever felt like they’re fighting to carve out their place in this empire of noise.”

Debut single ‘Like A Misfit’ proved to be a raw, powerful blend of nu-metal and metalcore, inspired by the struggles of feeling like an outsider. With heavy riffs, relentless energy, and emotionally charged vocals, the song resonates with those who’ve ever felt like they don’t belong.

Lead singer, Lucas Magourilos, said of that number: “The track is based on my own experiences growing up – Feeling misunderstood and like an outcast throughout my school years. It’s about realising how, in life, you’re often pressured to follow the collective or face being ridiculed.”

The debut single showcased Lonely Empire’s unapologetic sound and their ability to fuse aggressive instrumentals with deeply personal, relatable themes. Fans of bands like Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Bring Me The Horizon should feel right at home in this adrenaline-fueled anthem.
