Robert Jon & The Wreck return with a brand new single, ‘Life Between The Lines’, that’s out now on all digital platforms.
It’s the band’s first new recording following the release of their successful album Red Moon Rising album, and it arrives on the heels of a standout performance at AmericanaFest, signalling another chapter in their ongoing musical journey.
Produced by Kevin Shirley, ‘Life Between The Lines’ was a concept lyrically inspired by Robert Jon Burrison’s wife and son, as lead guitarist Henry James Schneekluth explained.
“It captures the trials of life on the road and balancing that with life at home. The song was born out of a spontaneous sound check jam during our European tour, with Andrew’s aggressive drumming and Warren’s dynamic bass line setting the foundation. We combined that with my obsession with classic heavy metal from the late 70s and early 80s. Kevin Shirley helped us fine-tune everything in the studio, turning it into a powerful anthem. We can’t wait for fans to hear it!
For a Californian band, Robert Jon & The Wreck’s southern rock sensibilities have been as much an aural delight as they are a geographical conundrum. They now take that a step further as musicologists on ‘Life Between The Lines’ where young Santana lookalike Schneekluth seems to be asking ‘How would Blackmore approach playing a Page riff?’ before the band steam along at a good old rock ‘n roll pace, adding gang-like “Whoa-whoa-a!” call-outs for the sheer heck of it, then, but lest we forget where these boys came from, they slow it down and their trademark sound resonates for a few pertinent bars.
