Glenn Hughes Guests with SATCHVAI Band

The newly formed SATCHVAI Band, the electrifying collaboration between legendary guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, returns with their second studio single ‘I Wanna Play My Guitar’. Now that might be a rather obvious statement from the pair, but they decided to take things to the next level by inviting a guest singer along.

The song features powerhouse vocals from Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion), and for some fans its been a long time coming – Hughes having played bass on Satriani’s 2018 What Happens Next album, while both guitarists are associated with him by way of the many-branched Deep Purple family tree.

Following the cinematic instrumental release of their debut collaboration ‘The Sea Of Emotion, Pt. 1’ in March, ‘I Wanna Play My Guitar’. adds another dynamic layer to the SATCHVAI catalogue, blending hard rock, blues, and arena-sized energy.

Anchored by Hughes’ unmistakable voice and backed by an all-star rhythm section of Marco Mendoza on bass and Kenny Aronoff on drums, plus Eric Caudieux on keyboards, with background vocals by Derek Day, Vai, and Doug MacArthur, the song is a rousing celebration of six-string obsession and pure rock ‘n’ roll spirit.

Surprisingly, ‘I Wanna Play My Guitar’, the new single by the SATCHVAI Band, isn’t just Joe Satriani and Steve Vai widdling round their fretboards blindfolded and showing off, but rather a good time rousing rocker, that ignites because of the qualities of the musicians involved; oh, and the voice of rock, Glenn Hughes, belting it out up front.

Directed by ZZ Satriani, son of Joe Satriani, the video for  ‘I Wanna Play My Guitar’ captures the electric chemistry between the newly formed SatchVai band and iconic guest vocalist Glenn Hughes

The single is available on all streaming platforms here and you can watch the official music video here at RAMzine.

The track arrives just one month ahead of the band’s European summer tour, their first full run as a unified group, that you can read about in full at RAMzine here.
