This summer, dark rock and metal band Schattenmann released their chart-topping, fourth studio album, Día de Muertos, via AFM Records, with it reaching #10 in the German album charts. Now, alongside medieval metal masters Tanzwut, they’ve released a cover version of ‘Komet’, originally performed by German rap artist Apache 207 and Udo Lindenberg.
Ranking as one of the most successful German singles to date, the groups believe they have managed to add their very own, unique touch to ‘Komet’.
“I grew up in the former GDR”, Tanzwut frontman Teufel revealed: “Udo Lindenberg and Rio Reiser was the first German rock music I heard from the West in the late 1970s. It has had a huge impact on me to this day. It is an incredible experience for me to interpret this song together with Schattenmann.”
Schattenmann frontman Frank Herzig added: “’Komet’ is an incredibly great song, with very emotional lyrics and a deep message for me. It was a beautiful musical journey and an honour to do this metal cover with Tanzwut. I still get goosebumps when I think about hearing the chorus finished for the first time and how our two voices harmonise together.”
‘Komet’ is available on all digital services at AFM Records here and you can can check out the video here at RAMzine.
