Singing in English, Welsh and Hindi with Jonathan Day

‘Canticle Of The Sun And Moon’, the new single by singer/songwriter Jonathan Day, will be out on 17th July through Revolver/Warner Records, following on from current release ‘Cafe In The Valley Of The Fire Church’.

Day and his band play alternative folk in a manner that’s been referred to as contemporary rural music from the Welsh borders. Aside from Day on vocals, guitar and percussion, Niimi Day Gough sings, Simon Smith plays bass, Meinir Olwen harp and Adam Knight vibraphone. They sing in English, Welsh and Hindi. Their live performances are enhanced by original projections made by animator, illustrator and filmmaker friends.

Last year saw the band touring widely, finishing with a headline slot at Festival in the Desert in the Sahara and performing at charity Playing for Change’s African Zamane Festival.

Their album A Spirit Library was Folk Radio’s Album of the Year, follow-up album Sakura was called “extraordinary” by the BBC, and spawned ‘Windflower’, picked up widely by French radio. New album Raven And Tamarisk is due soon.
