Skypilot are Simple Beasts

Skypilot will release their third album, Simple Beasts, on 19th August, through The Distortion Project and Code 7 Distribution. It is preceded by current single ‘Knifed On The Beach’, together with an accompanying video.

Recorded at Start Together studios in late 2021 under the stewardship of rd engineer and producer Rock O’Reilly, Simple Beasts highlights the band’s darker hue and is said to be “their most dramatic work to date”.

The first single, entitled, ‘Octofuzz’ was released in February 2022 on a limited edition 2 track digipack CD, and via all streaming & download outlets. As such, it served notice of the band’s intentions for the album, with deep grooves, pounding rhythms, and vocals spat at the listener with malicious intent.

Simple Beasts represents us in every way!” said bassist Gareth Ruddock. “We are extremely proud of this album, and we look forward to finally letting it loose upon the world. The songs are inspired by our current times and the pressures of social media on our collective psyche. The album is rant at everything that has angered and frustrated us about the last two years. It’s a release. Enjoy.”

New single ‘Knifed On The Beach’ is available on all digital formats, including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay and Deezer.

Simple Beasts features the tracks: ‘Waffle Dust’, ‘Octofuzz’, ‘Simple Beast’, ‘Klusterfun’, ‘Jazz Klub’, ‘8 In The Face’, ‘Through The Window’ and ‘Knifed On The Beach’.

The band will perform an album launch show at Voodoo Belfast on Saturday 27th August. They then play further dates at Fibber Magee’s, Dublin on Friday 2nd September and Limelight 2, Belfast (with Orange Goblin & Baleful Creed) on Saturday 17th September.

Formed in 2002, Skypilot has been following their own distinct path through the past 20 years, drawing their influences from a wide and varied collection of bands and genres. This approach has served them well so far, numerous tours and high-profile gigs in Northern Ireland and across the UK, alongside an assortment of bands, including Corrosion Of Conformity.

2022 marks the band’s 20th anniversary and Skypilot wasted no time in marking that most auspicious of landmarks, with singles released, a nine date UK and Ireland tour in April with classic rock band Blind River undertaken, and a new album on its way.
