If the long-term fate of British rock band Status Quo is still in doubt following Rick Parfitt OBE’s death this Christmas Eve gone, the band intend to honour scheduled 2017 dates in his memory, including two dates headlining this year’s REWIND The 80s Festival.
Status Quo will play REWIND North on Sunday 6th August and REWIND SOUTH on Sunday 20th August. Parfitt had of course left the band earlier in the year, having suffered continuing health problems, but whether or not Francis Rossi will lead the band onwards beyond the scheduled dates remains unknown. Certainly the classic Frantic Four line-up is now put to rest, and for Quo fans it may be time to bid the band farewell one last time. Whatever, we expect the band will rise to the occasion in Parfitt’s memory.
REWIND The 80s Festival will begin with REWIND SCOTLAND, returning for its seventh year to Scone Palace, Perth on Friday 21st July until Sunday 23th July. Among the rock acts announced are Tom Robinson, The Undertones, The Trevor Horn Band, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, T’Pau and Dr & The Medics.
Tom Robinson, The Undertones, Steve Harley & T’Pau and Dr & The Medics move south to join the Quo at REWIND NORTH, as does The Trevor Horn Band (with a special guest promised), plus old school punks Hugh Cornwell, Captain Sensible, Toyah Wilcox and The Blockheads. While at REWIND SOUTH, Status Quo are joined by the likes of Tom Robinson, Dr & The Medics and Big Country.
