Tales of Perdition are channelling something primal with their new single ‘Hold Down The Hunter’. It’s the first taste of their debut album The Theatre of Existence, slated for 2026.
The London five piece have crafted something genuinely interesting here. Guitarist Matt Simpson drew inspiration from an unlikely source: the video game Bloodborne, where players gradually descend into madness through blood consumption, transforming into beasts.
“You can understand the more angry you get as a person in life, the more you lose your temper to the point that you just explode and become an animal,” Simpson explains. “I wanted to write a song about being on that borderline of being about to lose your mind but holding it in as much as possible.”
It’s a concept that resonates. We’ve all felt that internal struggle, that moment where you’re white knuckling your composure. Tales of Perdition have taken that universal experience and wrapped it in symphonic metal grandeur.
The band pulls from Iron Maiden, Trivium, and Nightwish, blending NWOBHM grit with symphonic sweep and thrash intensity. They’ve been building serious momentum on the London circuit, sharing stages with Stranger Vision and Dreamslain, plus a notable slot at Coalition Festival alongside The Hell and Red Method.
Catch them live at Signature Brew, Blackhorse Road on 12th December for ‘The Battle for Sun & Thunder’.
The single was mixed, mastered and produced by drummer Hugo White.
