‘Black Widow’ is the brand new single from Australia’s The Ugly Kings. It is the second track released from their debut album Darkness Is My Home that will be released on 13th April through Kozmik Artifactz.
The song has been described as “a song bowing under the unfettered weight of the band’s unique rich, dark, melancholic and twisted blues rock”. And that’s not a bad description, having heard it we can tell you there’s slow doom-entrenched creepy feel throughout and it makes you keep on listening.
Featuring Russel Clark (Vocals), Christos Athanasias (Guitar), Nicolas Dumont (bass) and Andy Alkemade (drums), The Ugly Kings draw influences from an eclectic and dynamic musical background, as anyone who’s heard ‘Black Widow’, their previous single ‘Promised Land‘ or their previous mini-album can vouch for.
The Ugly Kings have toured with a number of established acts in their homeland, including Airbourne on their successful sold out East Coast Australia tour last year, causing that band’s Joel O’Keefe to comment; “The Ugly Kings have really got their own thing going on and it rocks! I love all the dynamics, pushing and pulling and then always smashing it out. Great intensity and power.”
