Caught In The Crossfire with The Veer Union

Alt. metal act The Veer Union‘s new single and video is Caught In The Crossfire – The third single from the Vancouver, BC, Canada based band’s upcoming album Reinvention, that’s slated for release on 20th February 2026 through Arising Empire.

A sonic onslaught about the chaos of a relationship that’s constantly locked in battle. The song is driven by thunderous drums and staccato guitar riffs – with a mix of clean and roaring vocals that are supported by a very heavy yet melodic tone.

The Veer Union said: “We poured our rage and souls into ‘Caught In The Crossfire’. It’s an assault that tears into the chaos of a relationship that always seems to be in confrontation. It’s about the brutal push-pull between love and hate, where our words turn to shrapnel, carving wounds that trap us in an endless war. The savage struggle to hold onto connection through relentless conflict is a raw, unyielding truth that countless people face every day”.

The video for ‘Caught In The Crossfire’, was co-directed by Tim Neuhaus and TVU’s Crispin Earl & Ryan Ramsdell, filmed in Vancouver, BC and produced by the band and Julien Bouffard.  The band explained the concept: The video for ‘Caught In The Crossfire’ visually explores the emotional battlefield of a relationship — where love and resentment collide, and words become weapons. Instead of portraying a couple in a traditional argument, we chose to tell the story through the lens of war, both literally and metaphorically.  Set against the backdrop of World War II, the video follows a soldier fighting overseas, while his wife waits at home. The letters he writes become a lifeline — a symbol of connection, struggle, and emotional survival. The combat scenes reflect the internal chaos and tension that can exist between two people”.

They continued: “The performance scenes were filmed in Stanley Park, Vancouver — our first time shooting outdoors in February. It was a rare sunny winter day, and while we’re proud of how it turned out, we’re not in a rush to brave that kind of cold again!”

The Veer Union launched into 2025 with the release of their Welcome To Dystopia album – The eight song, apocalyptic themed album by the Vancouver BC, Canada basedgroup included previously released hit singles ‘Empirical’; ‘Is This How It Ends’, and the title track, that included a guest appearance by rising rockers Silent Theory.

The focus track for the LP was No Excuse that excoriates leaders around the world for leaving the poor, middle class and working class behind in an evolving world – in order to help the wealthy grow their net worth to obscene levels.  An ominous spoken word intro explodes into driving guitars, buoyed by a hypnotic piano and synth melody line that are propelled forward by thunderous drums with a chugging, relentless rhythm.

The Veer Union said of the song “No Excuse’ is a powerful rallying cry that exposes the deep-rooted betrayal of the working class by those in power. For decades, our leaders have decimated the middle class by outsourcing our manufacturing base, leaving communities to struggle while the wealthy elite thrive. At the same time, governments have colluded with big tech to suppress dissent, using cancel culture and censorship as tools to control the narrative.

The band continued “Endless wars have claimed countless innocent lives, torn nations apart, and yet, the only ones to benefit are those at the top. We’ve endured lockdowns, had our freedoms stripped away, and watched our futures grow uncertain. The dream of prosperity has been ripped from us, leaving today’s youth with little more than a dim outlook for a better tomorrow.

“The rise of AI and robotics threatens to further control, weaponizing technology to erode autonomy.  But in this age of information, people are waking up exponentially to the reality of our situation—and they’re demanding accountability from those who’ve betrayed us. All hope is not lost… Yet.”

Tracks featured on Welcome To Dystopia are ‘No Excuse’, ‘Is This How It Ends?’, ‘Shades Of Gray’, ‘Empirical’, ‘The Underground’, ‘Welcome To Dystopia’, ‘Dig Their Own Graves’ and ‘Space & Time’.

More news on next year’s Reinvention album coming your way before too long.
