Formed by vocalist Diana Studenberg and guitarist Dave Thompson, and featuring Gavin Harrison (King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief) on drums and Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, Kate Bush) on bass, the band’s sophomore double album, DYAD, is due Spring 2024
Featuring heavy guitar riffs with melodic bass lines that harmonise with the at-times aggressive and at-times soft drum parts, listeners will hear subtle time changes hidden in groove based rhythms in ‘Here’s to the Lonely’.
The song was produced, mixed, and mastered by Trope’s guitarist/producer, Moonhead who co-wrote the song with Studenberg said: “’Here’s to the Lonely’ is for the ones who’ve never felt a true sense of home.”
Trope formed in 2016 and spent the next couple of years writing and recording demos that became their debut album Eleutheromania. In 2022, they toured Europe on a 26 date tour in 15 countries supporting The Pineapple Thief and six shows with them in the USA in April, before embarking on a USA tour with Symphony X and Haken, for 27 dates in May 2022. The band also played with Kings X in the US in 2023 and will be doing so again this year, as well as played select festivals including Maximum Rock Romania and Summerfest in the USA.
DYAD will feature musical contributions from some of the world’s best drummers. Aside from Harrison, the double album will include Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend), Gunnar Olsen (Puscifer) among others.
‘Here’s to the Lonely’ is available on Apple, Spotify, and Bandcamp. You can check out the video here at RAMzine.
