With a busy 2023 that saw four-piece Irish hard rockers Vendetta Love tour with Airbourne (amongst other things), 2024 looks set to be busier still, but ahead of that they are finishing up the year with a new single and video in ‘Might As Well (MNDFVK)‘.
Beefed-up with chunky Alice In Chains guitars with some gritty, heart-on-sleeve lyrics, vocalist Sean Mullen said of the single: “‘Might As Well (MNDFVK)’ came about while we were fucking around at a rehearsal for a show last year. It came together pretty quickly. I already had the lyrics more or less (there just written down waiting), which is pretty different to how I normally write lyrics, but it just seemed to marry really well.
“It’s also the first one we’ve done that has shared vocals between myself and Neil (bass). He’s carrying the harmony through the verses and just goes fucking nuts towards the end. I love it… What the songs about? I think that’s open to interpretation.”
Guitarist, Chris Craig added; “The build up in the middle section is one of my favourite parts to play live, it has a small dose of progressiveness to it before it kicks into the full riff between the way the guitar builds with the drums. The video was shot entirely in one day with Angel (Cosmopalace) in the Dunamaise theatre in Portlaoise, Ireland.
“We had talked about making it visually weird. Angel had sent me a message with the idea of wanting to create a tunnel around the lens, sort of like the James Bond, but more chaotic and claustrophobic. So, all the shots in the video with the ring around it are practical effects of reflective card duct taped to the lens, which we think turned out really great to give a sense of unease throughout the whole track.”
Vendetta Love incorportate elements of ‘80s Hard Rock with ‘90s Grunge delivered, box-fresh in the 21st Century, dripping with swagger and real musicianship.
Ahead of their August tour of Ireland supporting Australian hard rockers Airbourne on their Irish tour, they issued the single ‘On & On’, the band’s first new music since the release of their I Am EP in 2022.

‘On & On’ saw Shawn Mullen (Guitars/vocals), Chris Craig (Guitars), Neil McEvoy (Bass) and Darren Flynn (Drums) push their mandate of intoxicating groove-laden riffs transporting the listener back to the sticky floors of late-night clubs that once nurtured unbridled, exciting new rock music that provided the soundtrack to some of the best nights of your lives.
Speaking of the new track, Mullen said; ’’Lyrically, for me anyway, ‘On and On’ is about the dance between being aware of the rat race we’re all in in one way or another and the lies we tell ourselves to justify it. The song itself came together pretty quickly.
“It’s a simple song, really, a little brighter than most of our stuff but it’s got a certain groove that makes it a lot of fun to play live. It’s been second in our set for a little while now and has been going down really well with the audience as far as we can tell so we’re excited to get it out there.’’
