Review: Clear the Auditorium – The Final Broadcast

Young, energetic band from South Wales, UK. Clear the Auditorium play a blend of post-hard core and punk fused with elements of electronic genres like Drum n Bass, Trance and Dubstep.

Having secured supports with heavyweights such as The Blackout, Yashin and Blitz Kids, Clear the Auditorium’s reputation for a fierce live show catapults them to the forefront of the South Wales scene, leaving a tantalising taste for more on the tongues of those who have bared witness to their hectic and unpredictable live performance!

Here is our track-by-trcak review of their new album ‘The Final Broadcast’:

Prologue

Warning a nuclear attack is imminent! Or so the sampled voice says to a sprinkling of drum and bass. Vocally strenuous and urgent sounding. The backdrop of immensity is powerful and holds a superb rhythm with brooding synth!

If We Burn

A chunky rip-roaring riff explodes into a phenomenal bait with bite. It holds an urgent appeal and engrosses on listening. With the energy never far away it is a magnitude of pulsating harmonies that flourish with utter abandon. – Stunning track!

Vacant Street

Here the synth ebbs and flows with a fresh tenacity and goes all out to enthral. The strong drum beats merge with a haunting electronic vibe and the vocals blend perfectly into what is a flamboyant and tantalising structure. Addictive track that holds plenty of urgency!

Intermission

Turning to a radio spewing out some golden oldies and a bit off the cuff! I fail to see why the band have included this when their music is so good!

We are the Danger

A bit of Morse code rings out to thumping rapturous rhythms. Vocally harsh and gripping, with the body and mind being totally driven with its psychotic grooves. It is a very dangerous and absorbing track that simply explodes with venomosity!

Ozmandias

A feisty haunting synth plays to a tempered vocal entourage. Its urgency builds and flourishes with engrossing predatory menace. It expresses itself with an uplifting but stark synth and harsh vocal merged with a clean vocal that suits the bands captivating presence very nicely.

Epilogue

A very haunting and quite sinister track expands and outlines the bands very unusual diversity. A slower bait but none the less harrowing in its own way.

It has to be said, but this is a beautifully crafted album that homes in on its outlandish and indeed unusual diversity. The distinctive patterns it paints are well worth checking out.

Ravenous in places although holding an equally tempered guise. With vocal squalls and with harsh mesmeric force it holds plenty for the listener to attach themselves to.

So, an exciting album to experience. The threat of a nuclear war looms to its final end, it does hold a harrowing but rewarding adventure, although sad that the end has come for the bands seven tracks, barely whet the appetite, so looking forward to hearing more from ‘Clear the Auditorium’ – It’s been an absolute blast!

Clear the Auditorium ‘The Final Broadcast’ is out 17th November 2014.
