Beginning with Darkest Hour you are in fantasy land, sounding as epic as the track furthers. There’s an element of ambience and total surprise as a voice seems to appear over radio waves. Accompanying it are the most tribal drum beats which follow on introducing the next track, ‘A New Dawn’. Suddenly more surprise follows as a gruff voice seems to be summoned from the depths, the track races with its own pace which results in further quickening and epic features of a well-produced track. Its whole essences are mastered to perfection, offering amazing riffs, sending you into outer orbit.
‘Supremacy’ is another dream like scenario, and a very apt name for the band as it more than paints a few pictures for an over-active mind, this you can live through. Exploiting magical notes with each track propelling you on an amazing musical journey, holding plenty of substance. ‘Awake’ you can feel the journey turning a different corner, as it becomes heavier, although the female voice is present once more it casts that fairy tale imagery to the forefront, while the growling vocal chords keep it levelled. The music is just exquisite, while powerful and edgy, so a great and wonderful combination. The easiest way to describe it is Beauty meets the beast!
‘Rapture’ is slow moving at the start but soon heats up to tell another tale of fantasy. The rhythms are energetic and unmerciful. They reach far into the mind to do its damage. ‘The Promised Wasteland’ is a beautiful track that allows the listener to take a breather and wallow in super fine strings which again take you on a carpet of magic to distant lands and warmer climes, as the music simply embraces you and wraps you in calm serenity. The serenity doesn’t last long as ‘Hysteria’ takes over, it’s pounding drum beat and high pitched harmonies swirl into obscurity. ‘Endgame’ is a track that prowls but with fast rhythms and chaos attached to a springy explosion. ‘Disclosure’ is wild and untamed not showing its boundaries but definitely pushing limits.
The tracks on this album are beautiful and beguiling. I haven’t mentioned a few of them simply because, the listener needs to seek out for themselves and find out just what the band are about. Like a thoroughly good book, you need to read to the end to find out what truly happens.
Scenario II A New Dawn is out 17th February 2017 via Hysteria Records.
