Barenaked Ladies Are Being Careful Ahead of UK Tour

Barenaked Ladies have shared a new single, ‘Careful (For Dee)’, an unguarded look at learning to protect what matters most in life.

The multi-platinum rock band, made up of Ed Robertson (vocals, guitar), Kevin Hearn (keyboards), Jim Creeggan (bass) and Tyler Stewart (drums), lean into their folk side on this one.

Written by Robertson, it’s stripped-back and rootsy with all the easy candour of a late-night heart-to-heart, as he opens up about the hidden costs of doing what you love and the quiet reward of choosing what truly matters.

The single follows the life-affirming ‘Almost Ready’, and anyone catching the band in the States on The Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in the Atmosphere Tour, alongside Train and Matt Nathanson, can pick up an exclusive limited-edition 7″ vinyl.

‘Almost Ready’ was the band’s first new music in three years and their first song drop since In Flight – Carry On, a 2025 EP featuring acoustic renditions of seven tracks from their In Flight album.

“I’ve written every way there is to write,” said Robertson. “This song was written old school. One guy with an acoustic guitar, pencil and paper. I love it for that. It’s immediate and honest. It came out easily, cause it’s where I am.”

A song about endurance, resilience and unbreakable resolve, ‘Almost Ready’ set the tone for what’s coming next.

Back for their first UK tour since 2023 in December, Barenaked Ladies will be joined by their friend and touring colleague Boothby Graffoe on a run they’ve dubbed the Yuletide Ride.

Yuletide Ride follows the format of the band’s sold-out 2022 Canadian tour, where they played festival favourites from their 2004 Christmas album Barenaked for the Holidays alongside staples like ‘One Week’, ‘If I Had a $1,000,000’, ‘Pinch Me’ and ‘Big Bang Theory Theme’. Barenaked for the Holidays mixes cover versions of classic Christmas songs with originals such as ‘Green Christmas’ (from the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and ‘Elf’s Lament’, which features a then relatively unknown Michael Bublé.

Ed Robertson said, “We’re very excited to be returning to the UK just in time for the Holidays. We’ll be bringing the hits, the holiday favs, and a few tasty surprises with us.”

Over the course of 38 years, Barenaked Ladies have sold more than 15 million records worldwide and built up an arsenal of hits. You can read more about the band and their UK tour in our earlier coverage over at RAMzine.
