Bonamassa Seeks Redemption

Released on 21st September 2018 Redemption is the latest studio album from Joe Bonamassa and will be released on the Provogue/Mascot Label Group label over here in Europe.

The blues rock guitarist’s 13th solo studio album and third in a row of all original material, it features a collection of 12 songs some of which he premiered on his UK tour this spring. You can watch the video for the song ‘Redemption’ itself right here at Ramzine.

As such, Redemption is being considered a reflection on a personal rebirth the guitarist feels he is undergoing.  “I’m going through some other stuff in my life I didn’t expect to be going through,” Bonamassa confessed. “It’s a rising, it’s contrition, it’s acceptance, it’s everything. It’s painful, but knowing that there’s a rising coming.”

Redemption was recorded at various locations, notably Blackbird Studios, Nashville TN, The Cave Australia, Sydney OZ, Studio At The Palms, Las Vegas NV, Criteria Hit Factory, Miami FL and Addiction Sound Studios, Nashville TN.

The album reunited Bonamassa with some of Nashville’s finest music minds including Tom Hambridge, James House, Gary Nicholson, Richard Page and Dion Dimucci while continuing his long creative relationship with Kevin Shirley, who commented: “From a producer’s perspective, this is far and away the most challenging and diverse album that Joe has ever made.”

The guitarist’s regular band of drummer Anton Fig, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, horn players Lee Thornburg and Paulie Cerra, harmony vocalist Gary Pinto and background singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae and Juanita Tippins also appear. Plus, Shirley, brought Kenny Greenberg and Doug Lancio, both guitar players, into the mix. “It was interesting, because having two extra guitar players involved, allowed me to play a certain way,” said Bonamassa himself. You can find out yourself later this year, both on record and when he tours the UK again (Details at Ramzine can be found by clicking here).
