Badly Drawn Boy is back and will be headlining at the Byline Festival during the weekend of August 24th-27th. The English indie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist will be performing music from across his eclectic career in the intimate setting of the Media Circus tent. This highly anticipated return on his comeback tour will be welcomed by the Byline crowd, who’re ready to dance, discuss, laugh and change the world.
Joining Badly Drawn Boy will be Pussy Riot, the Russian protest punk rock group, whose strident feminist and anti-Trump / Putin stance will personify the activism and the unique attitude of Byline. Around 120 acts have been confirmed as appearing on the bill, including The Vapors, The Blow Monkeys and girl band with attitude, The Priscillas. Several up-and-coming have also been included, such as Joey Base, Sample Answer, Power Dress and Grace Savage. DJ’s also appearing include DJ Nihal, Professor Gramophone and DJ Niclas.
Set in the halcyon Ashdown Forest, and only an hour from Central London, Byline offers festival-goers a unique opportunity to recapture the spirit of bygone festivals, similar to the spirit of Woodstock, and it’s a unique event for those people who don’t want to take Trump, fake news or alternative truth at face value. All the venues at Byline are in an intimate setting, with the largest tent holding a capacity of 2,000 people, helping to create an amicable vibe for all attendees. As well as music, there’ll be guest speakers from across the worlds of Journalism and politics, plus activists and experts from other areas discussing the big issues of the day. These will include John Cleese, Alexie Sayle, June Sarpong plus A L Kennedy. In the evenings there will also be comedy, theatre and music across all seven venues.
