One of the front runners in the current UK rock scene, Cats In Space are currently recording a new studio album to be released on the Esoteric Antenna label in November 2024.
Having signed with Esoteric Recordings and Cherry Red there are also plans to rerelease and rework the band’s back catalogue both physically and digitally.
Formed in 2014 by guitarist Greg Hart and drummer Steevi Bacon, the band has garnered significant attention within the rock press since landing. Drawing inspiration from ‘70s rock, their sound echoes the likes of Queen, Styx, ELO, and Boston; loud guitars, huge drums, soaring multi-layered vocal harmonies and singable choruses. Moreover, those who’ve seen them live can confirm the band has “a compelling live show”.
Members of the band have performed with the likes of T’Pau, Ian Gillan, Asia, Mike Oldfield and Robin Trower. Lead vocalist Damien Edwards was Parson Nathaniel in Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds and also played Roy Orbison in Only The Lonely – The Roy Orbison Story. The band has toured with Deep Purple, Status Quo and Thunder and were guest artists to Bonnie Tyler at her sold-out London Palladium in 2019.
“Since the formation of Cats In Space in 2014, the long-term plan, when the time was right, was always to sign our own label and catalogue to a company that could take our music further in every direction, whilst fully embracing that we are not a heritage act but very much a going concern releasing new albums,” Greg Hart revealed.
“The team at Cherry Red specialise in being a good old school style label who take pride in physical product and have fantastic business in Europe, which we badly needed to explore,” he continued. “The list of classic bands on the roster speaks for itself, so to join the team was a very easy decision for us to make. We are super excited to be joining the Cherry Red Army!”
Cats In Space has announced UK tour dates, that are likely to coincide with the release of their new album.
