No, not a set of Spider-Man villain doppelgangers. The Green Goblins are a Swiss Celtic folk ‘n’ roll band, and their self-titled debut album arrives on 2nd October via Metalville Records.
The group started life as a street band around the border region where Switzerland, Germany and France meet, busking their way to attention from 2017 with a blend of traditional Irish folk, restless energy and a sound all their own.
The streets gave way to pubs, festivals, medieval markets and concert halls well beyond their home patch. Along the way they shaped a style that pulls together Irish tradition, modern rock and big, anthemic songs, something they happily label “Celtic Folk ‘n’ Roll”.
Their debut EP Arandore was followed by further singles and videos, including ‘Roll On’, as the band kept sharpening their approach. Now featuring Jam Hakimi (guitars, vocals), Ania Cieslar (violins), Tom Erni (bass) and Mario Steinacher (drums), The Green Goblins play around 50 shows a year across Switzerland, Germany and the Alsace.
The self-titled debut runs to twelve tracks: ‘What’s Wrong, What’s Right’, ‘Tally Ho’, ‘Whiskey, Tequila, Vodka & Beer’, ‘Roll On’, ‘Spinning Goblin’, ‘Turn It Around’, ‘Take A Stand’, ‘The Battle Of Sturning Bridge’, ‘The Courier’, ‘Free Soul’, ‘Johnny Jump Up’ and ‘Goblins March’.
