Corey Taylor releases new single ‘Beyond’

Corey Taylor, the GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter, actor, and New York Times best-selling author, has just announced the details of his new solo studio album CMF2. The album’s first single ‘Beyond’ was released 16th May 2023 via Decibel Cooper/BMG, Taylor’s new record label home.

The official music video for ‘Beyond’, directed by Dale ‘Rage’ Resteghini (known for working with Hatebreed, Five Finger Death Punch and Trivium), was shot in California’s Mojave Desert and features Taylor as a post-apocalyptic Uncle Sam character summoning different versions of himself from across time to lead them back to a dark carnival where he performs with his solo band and the performance art collective Cherry Bombs for an audience gathered in the round.

Taylor told Rolling Stone magazine; “This whole video is a metaphor. It’s a representation of where we are right now as a nation, as a country, as a people. The fact that no one accepts that Americans look different, talk different, speak different, love different, is completely fucking ludicrous. So this video is a journey of where America is right now going to where America is right now, because like it or not, this is America, man.”

Taylor further explains the conception and meaning of ‘Beyond’:

“I originally wrote it as an aggressive romantic song, but I’m also looking at it now as a kind of ‘come together’ song. Bringing the masses together, and letting them know that I want my music to take them beyond what they may think about me. Maybe they’ve had a misconception about me. It’s not exactly a calling card, more like throwing the bat signal up and being ‘alright, let’s turn everything on its head.’ It’s almost a dual threat, because now I look at it from two standpoints.”
