The final two bands for Fortress Festival has been revealed. Norwegian atmospheric metal band Vemod and Belfast-based blackgaze act Domhain complete the festival’s line-up taking place on 1st to 2nd June 2024 at Scarborough Spa in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK.
This will be a 2024 UK exclusive appearance by Vemod, who have recently made their recording comeback with The Deepening – Their first album in 12 years. A band that transcends the limits of black metal and plays what they call “dark ethereal metal”. Vemod will be performing on Fortress Festival’s main stage.
Domhain, also an act that is pushing the boundaries of black metal, will come to Fortress Festival following the release of their debut EP Nimue, described as an “emotional mix of post-black, blackgaze and atmospheric black metal”. Also Jo Quail as a guest on Nimue, itis making Domhain one of the most promising new projects in the scene.
Domhain commented on their upcoming Fortress Festival appearance: “We have all been looking at Fortress Festival’s incredible lineup with awe and we can’t express how happy we are to be invited to this amazing event. This will be our first show in the UK mainland and we are looking forward to playing some new tunes there, meeting everyone and sharing the stage with bands we love.”
Vemod and Domhain join a stellar line-up of special bands and exclusive shows. Previously confirmed bands include Triptykon with a 2024 UK exclusive and mainstage headlining show, Wolves in the Throne Room with a 2024 UK exclusive and mainstage headline Two Hunters set (the first time the iconic album will be performed live in the UK), second stage headliners Misþyrming with a 2024 UK exclusive show, second stage headliners Regarde Les Hommes Tomber with a UK exclusive show for 2024, Blackbraid with a debut and exclusive UK show, Panopticon with a Roads To The North anniversary full album set, Der Weg Einer Freiheit with a UK exclusive show, Furia with an exclusive UK show, and Fluisteraars with a debut and exclusive UK show.
Fortress Festival will also be witness to an appearance by Portuguese act Gaerea, a UK exclusive show from Brazilian “depressive black metal” band Thy Light, a return to the UK with an exclusive show from German black metallers Ultha, a UK exclusive set from Bavarian-based Waldgeflüster, a UK exclusive set from Sweden’s Dödsrit, UK black metal act Blood Countess, Obsidian Kingdom with a UK exclusive ‘Mantiis’ full album set, Fellwarden with its worldwide live debut, Lamp of Murmuur with a UK exclusive performance, Falls of Rauros with their first ever UK show, Danish atmospheric black metal band Sunken and UK black-death-doom act Abyssal and US atmospheric death metal band Mortiferum, and UK black metal bands Ante-Inferno and Andracca.
