The Mascot Label Group is scheduled to release a number of records featuring the work of men who more than know their way round a six string over the next month or so.
Former Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden returns with ‘Shine’, his first new solo album in 15 years, and it’s promised to be a rocker to boot. Marsden has been playing the blues circuit in recent years, and will be a special guest on Joanne Shaw Taylor’s forthcoming UK tour but he served his apprenticeship in rock bands as diverse as Babe Ruth, UFO and Wild Turkey before playing with assorted Deep Purple members in Paice, Ashton, Lord on their Malice in Wonderland album and only ever tour that indirectly led to him co-founding Whitesnake and subsequently co-writing many of their hits.
Shine will also feature a guest appearance by current guitar superstar, Joe Bonamassa, whose own ‘Different Shades of Blue‘ new studio album will be released in September. Whereas for those of a ‘Green Tinted Sixties Mind’ who like a healthy dose of six string shredding, Mr Big guitarist Paul Gilbert has ‘Stone Uphill Pushing Man Out’ on CD, while there’s a celebratory vinyl reissue of’ ‘Breakin’ the Rules’ by blues maestro Walter Trout, not to forget Influence the new solo CD by Phil Sayce recently reviewed here at RAMZine and to come almost full circle with Deep Purple associations, their guitarist Steve Morse’s own offshoot prog rock supergroup Flying Colors latest album ‘Second Nature‘ will be available in various formats that include an exclusive t-shirt and free bonus DVD due near the end of September.
